The Hat and Creek restaurant offers elegant dining and superb meals complemented by an extensive wine menu. The menu boasts culinary grill and seafood delights prepared with local ingredients and the freshest seasonal flavours. The restaurant has free Wi-Fi and an under-10 kids play area. Your go-to spot for breakfast, lunch or dinner (they are not open every night, please check their Facebook for actual opening hours). They also serve delicious coffee and freshly baked yummies. Great service and very relaxed atmosphere. Hoedspruit Cafe has the best kiddies play area in town. Situated in the Kamagelo Centre.


Sleepers Restaurant and Bar can be found in the old station building at Hoedspruit Station. The building has been authentically renovated, while maintaining the station feel and atmosphere of a bygone era. While the trains rumble by, relax at the Puffing Billy bar with something cool and refreshing before treating yourself to a good selection of South African cuisine. The menu also offers more general fare, ranging from tasty pizzas to perfectly grilled steaks and chips. With its laid back atmosphere and excellent food on offer, Sleeper’s Restaurant in Hoedspruit is the perfect place to chill out, have a nibble and enjoy the good company of friends. Lovely restaurant and bar with an amazing view on the Drakensberg mountains. Take a seat in the indoor area with air-conditioning, especially for those hot summer days, or sit outside on the picknick style tables and enjoy the stunning view of the mountains. This restaurant has the same owners as Hat & Creek, but the menu is different while it also has the Hat & Creek favourites. They also serve great vegetarian food.


A bush pub that serves great meals, burgers and pizzas and divine Espetada’s. Just 5km out of town on the R40 towards Phalaborwa. There is an action sports net at the back of this pub, offering action cricket, action netball and action hockey. Saturday nights is the busiest night when locals come to meet up and have a drink. And don’t be surprised if you see a Donkey walking past, yes there really is a Donkey that lives in the area around the restaurant.

The Indian chicken curry is a bestseller, as is the interesting variety of pizzas and pastas, but the trio of lamb chops with mint sauce and veggies should not be overlooked either – perfectly cooked and good value for money. The Three Bridges Restaurant is situated at The Outpost, approximately 20 km’s from Hoedspruit along the R40 towards Phalaborwa and overlooks the Olifants River.


The Manor House is a more upmarket restaurant and offers great food. In our opinion one of the best restaurants in town. A luxury and elegant dining place with a great view. Situated in the old Zandspruit Farmhouse, The Farmery serves coffee and delicious and healthy lunches. The environment is really relaxing and is the perfect place for reading a book or for remote working. The fine delicacies on offer are a must browse in the little shop. Some days they also serve dinners. Highly recommended place for families as well, since they have a nice kiddies play area. The restaurant is situated at Zandspruit Estate, access from the main road (Behind the Vodacom Tower).


Enjoy great coffee, hearty breakfasts, light lunches or delicious afternoon teas at the Cotton Club Café. This is the ideal place for a quick pit-stop, a quiet meeting or to spend time with some friends. Situated at The Bosveld Centre (located a few kilometres outside the centre of Hoedspruit on the R40 towards Klaserie.)


Family steakhouse situated in the Pick n Pay Centre at the entrance to the Hoedspruit Wildlife Estate on the R40. Situated at the back of Kamogelo Tourist Centre this is a great place to grab a pub lunch and have a few drinks. Kalimambo is also known for its Indian cuisine. Having a Chef originating from Kerala, Kalimambo offers great Indian curries and Chinese cuisine.


A rustic bush pub that serves light meals and pizza, very much a local “watering hole”, found at the end of the Eastgate Airport Road. Approximately 25 km’s from Hoedspruit at the gate to the Timbavati. It overlooks the Klaserie River, and you are likely to enjoy your drink under the huge Jackalberry tree with sights of Hippo, Elephant or Buffalo. Don’t go hungry, as it might take some time before the pizza oven is fired-up.


These two popular South African take-a-ways are located in the Total Service Station at the four-way crossing near the Spar Shopping Centre. Steers has great flame grilled burgers, steak rolls and ribs. Debonairs specializes in pizzas and subs.


Moholohlo Ya Mati is situated on the banks of the Blyde River, just off the R531. Magical Ya Mati awaits. Hidden under lush trees, surrounded by beautifully kept lawns and the Blyde River running through it. When it is time for that well-earned break and you need to escape the rat race, the peace and tranquillity of Ya Mati will have you coming back for more. A visit to the Ya Mati tea garden is a must. Enjoy Refreshments, relax, read a book and experience tranquil peace.


Maroela Bar is a family pub & bistro which offers a wide selection of craft beer, G&Ts & delicious pub food which is a grade above the rest. Visible play area for kids while parents sit back, relax & enjoy a meal & a cold one. Live screening of Rugby on big screen.


Situated in the Bosveld Centre, the Brewery is a great place for a drink or meal. They serve great draft beers, the best pizzas in town and their beer tasting are recommended.

Run by two chefs from Franschhoek, this small cafe serves delicious breakfast, coffee and lunch. They also offer great take-away options should you wish to enjoy a meal on the deck of your villa instead.


A little and healthy café, situated at the Rhino Convention Centre (near Rock Fig Centre). Great pancakes and a little play area for kids.
